Objectives:
The aims of this first year module is to introduce mechanical engineering students to basic electrical and magnetic components and concepts and to equip them with the knowledge and the tools to model, analyse, design, build and test simple circuits and systems.
On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic circuit principles and theorems
- Demonstrate knowledge of basic circuit design
- Design simple circuits to a specification
- Perform computer simulation of these circuits
- Construct and test circuits in the laboratory
