Some facts

The Mechanical and Material Engineering Departments at INSA Lyon are amongst the very top departments in these fields in France as reported in the Worldwide 2016 QS ranking for Engineering Universities* and benefit from extensive and long-term industrial partnerships. INSA Lyon holds several industrial chairs including the SAFRAN INSA-ECAM chair in Innovative Mechanical Transmissions for Aeronautics which supports the IBMMAE programme. The Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering of the University of Strathclyde is consistently rated in the top 10 in the UK. It has pioneered the use of active learning techniques in the interactive classroom, and innovative approaches to teaching design.

INSA LYON

  • Graduates:- More than 1,400 graduates each year- A total of 5,400 students (including 4,500 engineering students) 
  • International:- International mobility for 78 % of engineering students- 30 % of foreign students 
  • Staff:- 626 Library, Engineers, Administrative, Technical, Workers in Service and Health)- 684 teachers, teacher-researchers and researchers- 650 doctoral students 
  • Campus:- 134,000 m2 total surface area- 11 residences (3,500 beds)- 3 restaurant centres (1,000,000 meals per year)- 130 student clubs and associations 

ECAM

  • Graduates:- 1300 students on the campus-8 000 general engineering graduates since the school opened in 1900-6 900 working graduates, who are members of an association represented on the campus

  • Staff:- 1-11 teacher-student ratio to ensure individual student monitoring- 150 permanent staff, 200 guest experts

STRATHCLYDE UNIVERSITY 

  • Graduates:- A total of 1,725 students- More than 1,270 undergraduate students (bachelor) 
  • International:- International mobility- 24 % of foreign students 
  • Staff:- In total 1,430 Library, Engineers, Administrative, Technical, Workers in Service and Health- International 467 
  • Campus:- Located in the heart of Glasgow, Scotland’s biggest city- 80% of students living on campus- More than 140 student clubs and societies- New sports centre opening in 2018 !
